Bay to Bay II

                                (What, this again?)

Bay to Bay II: San Francisco to Cape Cod

29 years, 16 moves, 7 towns.
Picture

This was our home for almost 17 years. We'll miss

our friends, the weather (especially when we're in

the middle of a nor'easter on the Cape!), and the

particular beauty in the northern California

landscape. But we're really happy for the family

who bought our house. Their home.

April 28, 2026: moving day! (well, for our stuff)
Picture
The guys. They did a GREAT job -- very

professional, kind, fast, and easy to work with.

This smaller truck goes to the big truck...

...and this big truck takes everything to the

Cape. Ours was one of nine loads on this route.

Peter, who owns & operates this rig, is

justifiably proud of it.

April 30, 2026: after 12+ time to hit the road. After we downsize some more.

The 1997 Camry, or as Di calls it, The Dream Car,

is ready  at around 319,000 miles.  New brakes,

new tires, and a body that says, 'this car isn't

worth breaking into.'  (Pretty sure the book value

is less than the cargo bay on top of the roof.)

New brakes, new tires, given the green light by

our awesome mechanic, Ed Yarnell (if you are

anywhere near Mountain View, he's your man.

He's been taking care of this car since shortly

after we moved out to California.

(The engine would probably go another 200,000

but Di fears the salt air and salted roads on the

Cape will do in the undercarriage soon enough.

Sad!)

After 12+ carloads of donations, we ask: HOW do

we still have SO MUCH STUFF?

Across the country, there are 68,000+ self-store

units covering 2.2 billion square feet!

May - our California adventure. We don't know when we'll be back, so time to see the places

and people before we go.

Plus, Joe promised to umpire a Little League tournament in Half Moom Bay over Memorial

Day weekend!

Mrshall and Carmen, our friends and neighbors

since the day we moved to Redwood City.
\
Marshall has helped us so many times with

things around the house, and Carmen has

generously tolerated my attempts at Spanish.

Little Papi will miss running over to Uncle

Marshall's garage to say hi. And steal wood

scraps.
At some point, we bought a bottle of 1997 vintage

port, in honor of when we moved to California.

We finally opened it with our good friends Clint

& Ellie and Jack & Renita.  Di's favorite moment:

seeing two of our favorite couples, who didn't

know each other beforehand, start to make plans

to get together!

From the 'even better' department:  We wanted to

get together with our good friends, Darlene &

Darrell, but between their busy schedule and our

scramble to get the house ready and sold, we

couldn't make it work.  So they invited us to visit

them in Tahoe.  We ate and drank and relaxed

and talked politics and books and pickles (we are

a cultured and erudite group).

Note the reaction of the person who prepared

the dish to this point!
